Introduction

Many expected faith to retreat to the private sphere or to surrender before the advance of modernity. Yet in some cultures, faith has both endured the challenges of modernity and mounted its own "religious resurgence." Investigate the manner in which cultures modernize in unique ways, many of which accommodate or even promote faith.
