Education Projects
The Universities programme engages the worldwide higher education sector in developing a deeper understanding of the interrelationship between faith and globalisation. We are doing this in two principal ways

1. University Hubs
We are creating a global network of twelve leading research universities to be "Faith & Globalisation hubs". Each will work closely with the Foundation to:
- Generate and share new research and thinking around the role of religion in the 21st century's global context
- Act as convener in bringing together representatives from the political, academic, economic and faith communities to identify ways in which religion can shape the world for the better
- Develop and host a multidisciplinary Faith and Globalization HE course for their students and link with other HE institutions worldwide undertaking the course
- Support the implementation and development of the Face to Faith schools programme
- Enable and enhance the Faiths Act work
We are well on the way to establishing partnerships with the desired number of institutions. Our aim is that they should reflect both a geographical and an interfaith mix, with due attention being paid to the Hindu, Buddhist and Sikh traditions, as well as to Judaism, Islam and Christianity.
2. Faith and Globalisation course
We are working with a broad number of universities and higher education institutions around the world in teaching a course on faith and globalisation - a unique, multidisciplinary course established jointly by Yale University and the Tony Blair Faith Foundation.
By undertaking the course, students learn about how faith traditions and globalisation influence one another, and why understanding this process matters more than ever in the present. Seminar topics include subjects such as stakes in faith and globalisation; violence in the name of faith; faith and reconciliation; values that shape the market; faith and poverty alleviation; faith, globalisation and gender; religion and pluralism; religion and migration; religion in cyberspace; and the emergence of new religious movements.
